Four composers were commissioned by IMBOLC International Music Festival and Acadamh Ceoil Chaoimhín Uí Dhochartaigh to write new pieces featuring their respective instruments: Duncan Chisholm (fiddle), Hamish Napier (piano), Una Monaghan (harp) and Ryan Molloy (piano/fiddle). Students from Acadamh Ceoil Chaoimhín Uí Dhochartaigh have taken part in workshops and rehearsals and, this evening, several students will be involved in the premiere performance.
Each composer has responded to the festival theme “Tradition and Beyond” in her or his own original way and this concert promises to be one of the highlights of the festival.
