The Last Tree in Ireland is a collection of 12 etchings which have as their theme a location in the far west of Ireland on Mweenish island at the tip of the Carna Peninsula. The subject is the degradation of the landscape, the threat of rising sea levels, greatly disturbed weather patterns, and global warming. This is a warning for our time.

Ivan Armstrong is a printmaker based in the Belfast Print Workshop. He has had differing roles in his professional life: an academic, an arts administrator and, for the last ten years, a professional artist. He exhibits regularly throughout Ireland and occasionally abroad. More of his work can be seen at www.ivanarmstrongarts.co.uk

Is bailiúchán 12 eitseáil é The Last Tree in Ireland a bhfuil áit ar leith i gcianiarthar na hÉireann ar Mhaínis, Carna, mar théama acu. Is iad meath an tírdhreacha, ardú leibhéal na mara, patrúin aimsire atá ag athrú agus an téamh domhanda a spreag na saothair. Seo chugainn rabhadh ár linne.

Is déantóir priontaí é Ivan Armstrong a oibríonn sa Belfast Print Workshop. Is iomaí ról a bhí aige i rith na mblianta: scoláire, riarthóir ealaíne agus, le deich mbliana anuas, ealaíontóir gairmiúil. Is minic a bhíonn a chuid saothar ar taispeáint ar fud na hÉireann agus bíonn siad thar lear ó am go ham fosta. Tá níos mó dá chuid saothar le feiceáil ar www.ivanarmstrongarts.co.uk
